FAQ's
Is SHINE safe to use around my fish, coral, and live
plants? Yes. SHINE is ammonia-free and formulated with aquarium
environments in mind, making it safe to use on the exterior of reef, planted,
and freshwater systems. As with any cleaner, spray onto your cloth (not
directly onto the tank) and avoid overspray into the water.
Can I use SHINE on the inside of my aquarium? No.
SHINE is for exterior use only: glass, acrylic, hoods, stands, and the surfaces
surrounding your tank. For inside-the-tank cleaning, use a Flipper magnetic
cleaner. That's the system: Flipper cleans the inside, SHINE finishes the
outside.
Does SHINE work on acrylic, or just glass? Both.
SHINE is safe and effective on glass and acrylic, so it works whether your
tank, sump, or display is one or the other.
How is SHINE different from a regular household glass
cleaner? Household cleaners are built for kitchens and bathrooms. Many
contain ammonia and other ingredients that don't belong near an aquarium. SHINE
is purpose-built for aquarium use: ammonia-free, residue-free, plant-based, and
formulated with a nanotechnology surface-active design that leaves a
streak-free finish without compromising what's living inside the tank.
Will it leave streaks or a film? No. SHINE is
engineered to dry residue-free. For best results, spray onto a clean cloth,
wipe the surface, then buff dry with a fresh microfiber.
What's in it? Processed extracts of plants and
vegetables, non-ionic surfactants, and purified water. That's it.
How often should I use SHINE? Use it as the finishing
step in your regular maintenance routine, right after you clean the inside of
the tank. Most hobbyists wipe down the exterior weekly. Maintenance
professionals use it at the end of every service visit for a client-ready
result.
Does SHINE have a strong scent? No. SHINE is
ammonia-free and made from plant-derived ingredients, so there's no harsh
chemical smell. That's a meaningful difference if you keep your tank in a
living room, office, or retail space.
